JobStart/Future Skills

JobStart/Future Skills links training to employment. The program provides a range of skills training solutions for Saskatchewan people.

It is a program offered in partnership with Saskatchewan businesses, industry associations, individuals, public training institutions and other training deliverers to:

  • provide recognized training and employment opportunities for unemployed Saskatchewan people who need job skills;
  • provide employers with the skilled workers they need to fill new positions;
  • help industry associations, communities and training institutions to work together to meet training and employment needs specific to industry; and
  • enable public training institutions to respond quickly to industry needs for skilled workers.

  Program Options:

Workbased Training for the Unemployed provides financial assistance to employers to deliver recognized on-the-job training for unemployed Saskatchewan residents that leads to permanent employment.

JobStart/Future Skills Program - Quick Skills option provides funds to public training institutions to train the unemployed to meet industry requirements for skilled workers. Training should lead to ongoing permanent employment. The program also provides access to credit training in rural and northern Saskatchewan.

Programs Branch is responsible for the development and implementation of quality training and employment programs to respond to the basic education, work experience and skill training needs of Saskatchewan adult learners, including employers and workers.

This program allowed Industry sectors to work with community groups and training institutions to plan and develop human resource strategies to address industry skill shortages.  This page is a listing of sectors involved.
