Effective June 13, 2008, if you are a Canadian Forces Reservist who has interrupted full-time studies to serve on designated operations, you may no longer be required to pay interest or make payments on your Canada-Saskatchewan Integrated Student Loan if you meet the eligibility criteria.

Students who are Canadian Forces Reservists and who interrupt their studies to serve Special Duty Services will be allowed to discontinue from their studies and receive interest-free status for the duration of their service. In special circumstances, interest-free status may be extended because the student cannot return to their studies immediately following the service because of timing issues or injuries suffered while in service.  The interest-free period granted while on deployment will not be included in the calculation of the maximum lifetime limit.

To find out if you are eligible and how to apply, visit the information on the CanLearn website or contact the Student Financial Assistance Branch at 1-800-597-8278.
