The Student Financial Assistance Branch administers several federal and provincial programs that provide repayable and non-repayable financial assistance to qualified Saskatchewan residents enrolling in approved programs of study.

The objectives of Student Financial Assistance are to encourage and assist academically qualified and financially needy students to participate in post-secondary education and provide students from low income families and disadvantaged groups the opportunity to participate in education programs and training.

The Provincial Training Allowance (PTA) provides income support to low-income students enrolled in approved basic education, Workforce Development initiatives or in Quick Skills Training which are not approved for student loan funding.
